The church is part of the joint benefice of Helsby St Pauls and Dunham on the Hill & Hapsford St Luke's within the Frodsham Deanery of the Chester Diocese.

St Paul's Church was built in 1869-70 and consecrated on 28th July 1870. The building was erected from funds donated by local subscription. Sited just at the foot of Helsby Hill the church has a commanding view over the lower expanse of the River Mersey.

St Paul's is a very friendly church offering a wide range of services and other activities which are also held in the church building.
